Greg Acret, General Manager of Hawks Nest Golf Club, said, “The fact that we’ve been allowed to continue playing golf when other sports were shut down was a good outcome for the Club and our golfing members.”

Mr Acret said it has taken this time-off as an opportunity to invest in a $120,000 renovation.

“We’ve taken the opportunity to have a massive clean up and do things such as painting the offices, renovating some of the toilets, replacing the carpet through the Clubhouse, and more.

“We are really pleased with the results and our members and visitors are going to notice a huge transformation of the Club when they return.”

Mr Acret said that with the re-opening comes certain restrictions to help protect patrons.

“We will require all members and visitors to sign a register recording their name and contact details which will only be used for tracing purposes should that be required.”

“We will also be limiting areas to one person per four square metres, enforcing social distancing, supporting good personal hygiene with the provision of hand sanitiser at points around the Club, including entry, and have also engaged a roving marshall who will ensure that these restrictions are complied with.”

Mr Acret also noted that the Club will not be checking temperatures prior to entry.

“While the forced closure of the Club has really put the brakes on the progress we have made over the last three years, we are fortunate that we were still in a position to complete a much-needed makeover of the Clubhouse,” said Mr Acret.

“We think our patrons are really going to be impressed with the changes we’ve made and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back on 11 June.”
