Hazard Reduction Burn by Pindimar Tea Gardens, North Arm Cove and Limeburners Creek Fire crews

Saturday 15 March saw combined Rural Fire Service crews from Pindimar Tea Gardens, North Arm Cove and Limeburners Creek undertake a Hazard Reduction Burn North/West from Swan Bay.Pindimar Hazard burn

Near perfect wind conditions saw an area of approximately 28 Hectares of bushland cleared as a result of identified high ground fuel levels.

The ‘burn’ was carried out without a hitch and through this controlled action, the areas bordering will be a ‘low risk’ of Bushfire for some time.

During the burn, firefighters were surprised to discover the ground nests of the rare, ‘titleist’, ’bridgestone’ and ‘precept’ birds [Golf balls].

Several of the crew pocketed some of these interesting ‘round eggs’ to take away for incubating in their golf bags and practice hitting.

The cooler months should see more Hazard Reduction Burns taking place in preparation for next years Bushfire season.
