Holiday Property Manager, Kaye Simpson from First National Hawks Nest told News Of The Area, “All of our one hundred holiday properties have been fully booked, and our guests have been very happy enjoying our laidback lifestyle.”

The same story was being told at Tea Gardens Real Estate which managers over 120 holiday lets.

“We’ve been fully booked over the Christmas New Year period and many of our clients have come in to book again for next year,” Sam Rowling said.

Spare a thought for our local cleaners, who’ve been busy ensuring all these properties are cleaned ready for new holiday makers each week.

There’s just a four hour window between 10am and 2pm on Saturday’s to get hundreds of properties spick and span.

“It’s a real military operation,” Kaye Simpson said, “And there’s also the linen to get washed, dried and ironed as well.”

Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens, clubs and restaurants and the hotel have been doing a roaring trade.

Shoppers have also battled long queues in Coles while IGA in Hawks Nest has been extra busy.

For Fiona Mobbs, this was her first Christmas since taking over the Take Away café at Myall Quays Shopping Centre.

“We’ve been so busy, standing room only, regulars are happy, tourists are happy, lots of return customers, I’ve had to employ more staff,” Fiona said.

On the down side, many residents have been calling on MidCoast Council to provide more rubbish services over the holiday season with many public bins overflowing with rubbish around beach areas and shopping centres.

MidCoast Council is calling for people to put their complaints in writing.
