Preparing high school students for the future workforce therefore becomes very complex.

What school subjects to take, what university or TAFE course to study, or whether to take an apprenticeship are questions young people and often their parents ask.

To deal with the complexities of the workforce, Hunter River High is teaming up with the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA).

Together, they will launch ‘School-Industry Partnerships.’

Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Ms Karina Chambers, Community Liaison Officer at Hunter River High School told News Of The Area, “The initiative includes a toolkit to support career education.”

“Part of the National Career Education Strategy has been for the FYA to develop three resources to support schools, industries, and adult caregivers to build effective relationships to support young people for the world of work.”

The event will be held on Tuesday, 10 September from 5.00 to 7.00pm at Hunter River High School.

Local employers will be present to help connect young people with jobs of the future.

Ms Chambers said, “If you want to hear how the future of work looks for us all, this is an event not to be missed.”

“Preparing young people for the new future of work is our importance.”

“Jobs are not only important to our livelihood, they are also an important part of our lives and a key contributor to our happiness.”

“The opportunities are here and now.”

The FYA event is concerned with harnessing the creativity, capabilities, and problem solving skills of young people combined with a social conscious to prepare them for a better future.
