THE hot weather didn’t deter enthusiasm or competitive spirit at Karuah Public School’s Annual Swimming Carnival recently held at Tea Gardens pool.

As the races got underway, the students from Years 2 to 6 constantly cheered for their houses and supported the competitors who gave it their all.

Sports Co-ordinator Mrs Kath Henry said the newly elected sports captains and vice-captains did an exceptional job, by leading the cheers and encouraging and organising the children for their events.

“The students participated with enthusiasm and dedication for their sporting houses,” Mrs Henry said.

“Teachers were delighted with student behaviour and the huge amount of effort put into races.”

The three houses, Kingfisher, Pelican and Swift, battled it out in numerous events with the full program keeping the students and staff busy throughout the day.

There were also plenty of free swims which gave the students time to cool off and have fun in the water with their friends.

Mrs Henry said the carnival was a huge success due to the participation of the students and the efforts of many parents and staff.

“Thank you to all staff members, parents and carers who attended and assisted at the carnival, your efforts are always appreciated,” she said.

“Thanks also to Mrs Kelly Pietsch who was our life guard, and to Leon from the Masters Swim Club for setting up on the day.”

The house trophy, medallions and ribbons will be presented at an upcoming school assembly.
