Karuah Sharks Cricket teams play well and stay competitive

Under 13’s Sharks had there first game back from the Christmas break, playing Eastern Suburbs White at home in Karuah.

Losing the toss and sent into bowl, sharks had a good start having Whites 2 for 19 after 5 overs.

Sharks only having 8 players and plenty of gaps in the field, Whites finding the bat against ball and making quick runs reaching 140 after 20 overs with a slow over rate.

Best bowlers Jordan Barry 1 for 7, Brandon Nott 1 for16.

Sharks starting well being 0 for 29 after 5 overs with Ben Woolard and Will Smith reaching an opening stand of 81 for the first wicket falling.

Whites with a full 11 on the field slowing down the run rate and sharks running out of overs to be 4 for 92 after 20 overs.

Best with the bat Ben Woolard 36 and Will Smith 30.

First game back and a lot more room for improvment.

C-Grade: Sharks played the Farmers from Vassy, this game is always played with spirit and sportsmanship.

As per the juniors, Sharks losing the toss and sent into the field, with Sharks normal captain, Jim Drinkwater getting a call from B-Grade, Mark Woolard took on the captains job and with help from the seniors playing group.

Farmers were 3 for 54 at the first drinks break(12 overs) and 6 for 111 at the 24th overs drinks break and looking to put on a big score, some very good bowling and great feilding bowling the Farmer out in the 33 over for 139.

Best bowlers Aaron Oltersdorf 4 for 14, Ben Woolard 3 for 17.

Nathan and Ashlee Grimshaw both taking a wicket each.

Sharks had a slow start chasing the runs down at one stage 2 for 10 after 5 overs, the 12 over drinks break, 2 for 41 and 24 over drinks break, 4 for 76 and 35 runs behind the Farmers at the same stage but with 2 more wickets in reserve.

With some great batting from Aaron Oltersdorf 36 not out, Peter Barry 18 not out, Mark Woolard 29, Nathan Grimshaw 23, and Lucas Barry 20, piling on 64 runs to win the game with an over to spare.

This win was a great team effort and has all the player pumped for the next game.
