WITH its beginnings in 1956 the Nambucca District Tennis Association is one of the oldest sporting groups in the region still in existence.

The Macksville Tennis Club is a part of that Association and this week the President of the club, Robyn Jones, told News Of The Area, “Tennis seems to be in a bit of a slump at the moment and we would like to reach out to the community and encourage more ladies to join our group.

“Each Tuesday morning we have a ladies ‘round robin’ competition, however some of our ladies are retiring, just like Roger Federer and Serena Williams, and we would really like to keep the group going so new members are important to us.”

The Macksville Tennis Club Tuesday Morning Ladies are holding a ‘Try Before you Buy’ day commencing at 9:00am on Tuesday 11 October 2022 where ladies can come along and see if they might like to get into tennis.

The group welcomes ladies of all ages and currently have approximately 20 ladies in the group with an age range from early 40s with the oldest player being 92 and still taking to the court.

Robyn Jones concluded by saying, “Our competition is very social and caters to all standards of play, our fees are reasonable and include morning tea.”
