NO person in their right mind normally tries to cross the Pacific Highway on foot, but somehow one very brave little koala found herself stuck halfway last week.

The female koala ended up on the medium strip near the Viney Creek Road turnoff, and one equally brave human soul stopped to rescue her.
The koala was fortunate on this front as well, because her rescuer, who is believed to have been a woman, took her to Port Stephens Koalas at Nelson Bay to be nursed back to health.
Luckily the koala only suffered minor injuries and was fully recovered within days.
Jill Madden, President of the Myall Koala and Environment Group told News Of The Area, “The Koala was about four years old and was in beautiful condition when released.”
“Full credit goes to the koala carers at the Port Stephens Group.”
What was needed then was a safe release site, which was found by Noel Swain who took delight in watching her climb high into a Swamp Mahogany Tree, needless to say well away from the dangers of the highway.
