Tickets are just $20pp, which are available at the door, school children free enter for free.

All funds raised at the concert will go to support Legacy projects.

The concert band is a non-profit organisation whose members come from all walks of life and musical ability ranging from beginners to professionals providing music for the community.

With only a short break from service after World War II the Australian Army Band Newcastle has been performing since 1861.

Members of the band are heavily invested in the support and promotion of the Australian Defence Force, while striving to develop music and musicians within the Hunter Region.

The band comprises ensembles from quartets to a full military band and it performs music from all genres.

Legatee Doug Jacka told News Of The Area, “Last year’s amazing performance involving choreographed marching, with the band criss-crossing the area in front of the stage while playing contemporary music designed to appeal to all ages.”

“The pipes and drums sections were, as always, stirring.

“Everyone present agreed it was the best show ever and the 2019 show promises to be even better,” he said.

The band aims to promote the enjoyment and fun of learning a musical instrument.

Legacy was founded in 1923 by a small group of World War I veterans.

They believed they had to accept a legacy responsibility for the welfare of the wives and children of their comrades who were killed in the war or subsequently died.

The Spirit behind Legacy is its service, and the key element is the personal contact which is maintained by individual Legatees with those they help.

In Port Stephens (Tomaree and Tilligerry Peninsulas and Medowie), 30 dedicated Legatees support about 240 widows and their dependents.

Legacy’s services include bereavement support, advocacy for pension entitlements, rights and benefits by trained and experienced Pension Officers, financial hardship relief and assistance with children’s educational expenses.
