Magpies’ Ladies Day for Mackenzie Papworth

Raymond Terrace Roosters player Mackenzie Papworth,13, is continuing her brave battle with cancer.

THEY don’t come braver than 13-year-old Raymond Terrace schoolgirl Mackenzie Papworth.

After being diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma, Mackenzie is fighting the battle of her life – only four years since losing her mum to cancer.

One of her biggest supporters is the Raymond Terrace Magpies Rugby League Football Club.

The Magpies are right behind Mackenzie’s recovery plight and will host their annual Ladies Day this Saturday July 22 from 11am.

Funds raised on the day will assist the Papworth family in acquiring Mackenzie’s ongoing treatment.

An athletic Mackenzie played junior rugby league for the Raymond Terrace Roosters before stepping down to treat her cancer.

Tireless Magpies president Luke Handsaker told News Of The Area that “members of our B Grade men’s team will don specially-designed pink jumpers on the day to be raffled post match.

“Mackenzie is a beautiful young lady who is battling the fight of her life and the Port Stephens community are here to support her,” said Luke.

“We invite ladies to come along with your girlfriends and have a wine and a laugh while watching our Magpies teams in action and help us fill up Mackenzie’s bucket list,” he said.

Dress code is 50 Shades of Pink.

Fixtures on the day include B and C grade league tag, A grade womens tackle, B grade and D grade mens northern conference.

Tickets are $60 per head and include free entry, lucky gate prize, best-dressed prize; access to exclusive ladies-only area; finger food, personal cheese and deli meats platter, drink tickets; entry to a kicking competition and a thank you gift.
