Man charged following Port Stephens drug supply investigation

Two men have been charged following investigations into the supply of illicit drugs in the Port Stephens area.

In May 2016, detectives from the Port Stephens Drug Unit commenced Strike Force Binden to investigate the drug supply of methylamphetamine, MDMA and cannabis in the greater Nelson Bay area.

On Friday 22 July 2016, officers arrested a 36-year-old man at Anna Bay, following a vehicle stop where officers allegedly located methylamphetamine inside the car.

He was charged with supply prohibited drug and appeared before Maitland Local Court the following day and will next appear before Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 14 September 2016.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at a home on Scott Circuit, Salamander Bay. Officers allegedly located a safe containing a firearm and cannabis. These items were seized and submitted for forensic analysis.

On Tuesday 26 July 2016, detectives arrested a 22-year-old man in Nelson Bay. He was conveyed to Raymond Terrace Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis (x2), supply prohibited drug (x5), possess unauthorised pistol, possess prohibited drug (x4) and possess prescribed restricted substance.

He was refused bail to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court today (Wednesday 27 July 2016).

Investigations by Strike Force Binden are continuing, with further arrests to be made.
