IT was very successful season, for Mia Chrimes, Shannon Bohan and myself, with Medowie Netball Club’s future netballers in their first tier of Net Set Go.

With 22 players, of ages ranging from four to eight years old, we were kept busy integrating netball skills and fun activities for the afternoon sessions to ensure we were accommodating for everyone, and their different levels of development.
These young netball players started out the season playing active games that displayed the various skills used in netball, such as, catching, throwing, jumping, running and pivoting.

Follow up sessions further developed these skills with drills and tasks carefully disguised as fun games.

There were always lots of giggles and smiles as they persevered to achieve the tasks presented to them. There were always lots of wayward balls, too!

Towards the end of the program, some of the older players were able to move on to play short modified netball games together.

This was always the most anticipated and exciting part of the sessions as these players were able to “…play real netball like the ‘big girls’ do on Saturdays!”
We ended our program with short presentation where the players each received a medallion, to match the shirts and netballs they received at the start of the season.

All the players displayed great enthusiasm and I look forward to coaching them again, next year, when some of those players will actually be playing Saturday netball, as they are involved in their second tier of Net Set Go.
