Man charged following robbery at Taree

A man has been charged following a robbery of a service station at Taree last weekend.

Police from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command were called to the business on Victoria Street about 9.55pm(Sunday 26 April 2015), responding to reports of a robbery.

On arrival, police were told a man had allegedly threatened an attendant while demanding cash.

The man was handed cash and drove from the scene in a red sedan parked nearby.

No one was injured during the incident.

Following inquiries, yesterday (Monday 27 April 2015), police executed a search warrant at a home on Hughes Street, Taree where items including clothing were seized for forensic examination.

About 3.30pm today (Tuesday 28 April 2015), police attended a nearby home on Barton Street where they arrested a 32-year-old man.

He was taken to Taree Police Station and charged with robbery and resist arrest.

The man was refused bail, to appear at Forster Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 29 April 2015).
