The 40-year-old hit the road last Sunday, at the start of a 12 hundred kilometre journey over the next month.

The Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Community has been busy behind the scenes helping Jay to reach his target of $250,000 for Melanoma research.

Mumm’s Restaurant is holding a fundraising dinner for Jay and his support crew on the night he arrives in Tea Gardens on Thursday 23 March.

Here’s a taste of the mouth-watering menu.

For Entree there’s a choice of four dishes including, salt and pepper squid with capsicum jam, mixed quinoa salad with beets, broccolini, feta, pumpkin and toasted seeds (GF) and house made duck spring rolls with a spicy dipping sauce (DF).

Of the five mains there’s fried barramundi or marinated lamb rump with creamy mash and seasonal vegetables just to name a couple of delicious options.

And who doesn’t like something sweet.

Chocolate, raspberry, pistachio and frangelico semifreddo with dollop cream.

Lemon and lime tart garnished with berry coulis and soft cream

Sticky date pudding smothered in rich butterscotch sauce served with cream and ice cream.

There’ll also be a free glass of sparkling wine on arrival courtesy of Tyrells.

Cost per person is $50.

Community organisations are being urged to book a group table.

To Book call Mumm’s on 4997 1162.

You can also join Jay on his walk.

You can do a few hundred metres or a leg of 20 kilometres or more.

He’s due to arrive in Bulahdelah on 22 March, Tea Gardens on 23 March, and Medowie on 24 March.
