Months of road works have resulted in some major changes to the stretch of road which runs along the Myall River from the Tea Gardens Hotel to the car park near the Singing Bridge.
“When the upgrade was done, the 40 kilometre zone should have been introduced from day one,” Tea Gardens Real Estate’s Kylie French said.
“It can be really dangerous, drivers just fly through here with no concern for pedestrians even with the slow down zones.”
Local police have also backed the plan.
Senior Constable Dave Coyle said, “Tea Gardens police will support any such proposal put before Mid Coast Council.”
The Myall River Action Group believes another ‘give way’ sign is needed on the junction of Charles Street and Marine Drive.
Concerns have also been raised about the new compressed areas near the entrance to the library and on the corners of Maxwell and Charles Streets.
The Marine Drive issues will be raised with MidCoast Council at its meeting next month with the Southern Area Reference Group.
