Meals on Wheels Volunteers Lunch

SIXTY kitchen hands and loyal deliverers attended this year’s Meals on Wheels Volunteer Luncheon in the Hawks Nest Community Hall on Thursday 21 November.

The luncheon was provided by Emile Tseronis head cook at Meals on Wheels and desserts by Colleen See a long -term volunteer as a thank you to everyone for all their efforts.

Entertainment was provided by Jomeca who sang a variety of songs from Jazz to Pop to Musical Theatre, Jomeca was also joined by Office Manager Meredyth Rae for a duet from Wicked “For Good”.

Further entertainment on the day involved a “This Is Your Life” segment hosted by Meredyth and participant Alan Tarlington both getting up to some hilarious antics.

Certificates for over 10 years voluntary service were awarded to Ian and Hellen Lawrence, Dawn McCarthy and Marilyn Taylor.

A special plaque was also presented to Paul Dewar to acknowledge his many years of support to the organisation.

Meredyth told News Of The Area, “A wonderful time was had by all with many compliments to the chefs, we were thrilled to have Jomeca perform for us and wish her all the best with her career in entertainment”.

The volunteers at Meals on Wheels Tea Gardens Hawks Nest provide hot and frozen nutritious tasty meals to residents in Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest, Pindimar, North Arm Cove, Karuah, Nerong and Bulahdelah.
