THE Combined Probus Club of Medowie held its Annual General Meeting and election of the 2017/18 committee recently.   The word ‘combined’ in the title of the Medowie Combined Probus Club refers to the fact that they are a club open to both genders.

There are still some single gender Probus clubs in the Port Stephens area, though most clubs now are combined.

All members of the previous year’s committee were re-elected although two members exchanged positions.

The new committee (pictured) consists of Terry Corcoran, Kevin Tomlinson, Neville White, Paul Griffiths, Joy Waugh, David Thomas, Susan Humphries, John Humphries and Dawn Patterson.
The committee is now planning the next year’s activities for the club, which currently has 63 members.

These activities will include the monthly meetings with guest speakers, lunches at various venues and outings to local places of interest.

A major event for the club each year is the Birthday Lunch, which will take place in July when the Medowie Combined Probus Club turns 14.

Publicity Officer, Terry Corcoran, told News Of The Area, “We are looking forward to a fantastic year, with lots of great events planned.”
Probus Clubs are clubs for retired or sem-retired business or professional people.
The movement operates worldwide.

Probus Clubs provide members with regular opportunities to keep their minds active, to expand their interests and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.

Membership is by application and is open to anyone of good character.

The club meets at 10am on the third Wednesday of each month, except December, at the Medowie Community Centre.    More information can be obtained from Membership Officer Joy Waugh on 4982 8369 or Publicity Officer Terry Corcoran on 4982 8579.
