Representatives from local chamber groups recently met with the NSW Business Chamber Team to formalise the new organisation, which is expected to be up and running within the next few weeks.

Once operational, the new chamber will act as a unified voice for the MidCoast region’s business community.

“This area has been through much change and the MidCoast Business Chamber will create new opportunities for businesses and more importantly for the region,” NSW Business Chamber Coordinator Duncan Burck said.

“This also means stronger representation for smaller local chambers in larger regional initiatives.”

Mr Burck said the new chamber has the potential to “become one of the State’s sophisticated business representative groups”.

The MidCoast chamber is expected to bring many benefits for local businesses including providing a stronger, united voice when advocating with all levels of government, financial savings and efficient use of existing resources across the regional network.

“This will bring about the best possible outcomes for all concerned and make our region known to all,” MidCoast Business Chamber Vice-President John Sahyoun said.

The new chamber is founded on principles of sustainability, collaboration, good governance and a genuine commitment to improving the region’s business interests.
