The 15-year old Medowie Christian School student is well on the way to achieving her ambitions.

Monica competes as a para-athlete as she has autism and a mild intellectual disability.

She was selected to represent NSW at the National Cross Country Championships last weekend as a T20 para-athlete.

The selection to represent NSW at the nationals came after finishing second in the NSW All Schools State Cross Country.

Monica came second is the 3 kilometre race held at Port Kembla Jogging Facility.

When the para-athlete equations were assessed, it was worked out that Monica came third in Australia.

Monica told News Of The Area that her secret to winning is eating her vegetables and running along the river every two days.

Monica’s coach, Ellie, also helps to bring out Monica’s best performance.

Monica’s father, Mr Mike Moore told News Of The Area, “Her school has provided amazing support for Monica achieving her dreams.”
