Motorfest 2016 is not far away from Hawk Nest

The Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Motor Club Inc. is now ready to stage their Annual and in this year their fourteenth Motorfest Community Aid Event Day on Saturday 12 March at the Myall Sports Oval at Hawks Nest.Motorfest

Various motor clubs from Newcastle, The Hunter Region, Sydney Basin, Central Coast, Taree, Tuncurry/Foster, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Nelson Bay and the Port Macquarie area are expected to attend.

This wonderful and interesting day, where car enthusiasts display their treasured veteran, vintage, classic and unique vehicles and motorcycles, which are all in pristine condition, has become a popular event for the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest locality.

Vehicles are expected to start arriving from 8.30am with the official program commencing at 10am with the opening of the event by Mr Len Roberts, Deputy Mayor, Great Lakes Council..
Councillor Roberts told Myall Coast News, “Motorfest is a local event success story.”

“From humble beginnings in 2001 it has evolved into one of the largest motor festivals in rural NSW,” he said.

“It is a well organised event that not only showcases cars but also the talent and pride that exists in the Myall Coast. It is an honour to be asked to open the festival that raises funds for local organisations in a pleasurable way. I am looking forward to another grand display,” Councillor Roberts said.

Phil Hoare from the Motor Club said, “In past years over 300 vehicles and motorcycles have attended the Motorfest Event and again this year committee organisers are already indicating that responses to Motorfest 2016 will see similar numbers of vehicles attending.”

“Again in 2016 we will have in attendance Sydney Sports Ground Speedway Cars and Dirt Track Bikes,” Mr Hoare told Myall Coast News.

The Local Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service and the local Surf Life Saving Club will display their latest vehicles and equipment with the Police Area Command at Raymond Terrace also displaying their vehicles.

The Red Cross Ladies will be present to ensure that cups of tea, coffee and home made cakes, biscuits and scones are available and the Rural Bush Fire Brigade will cater for hungry visitors with their sausage sizzle and BBQ.

The Local Surf Club will again provide and serve cold drinks. Under cover seating will also be available for those visitors who wish to rest and enjoy the day.

Entertainment will be provide by well known local band “Driftwood” who have entertained us at Motorfest in the past and who make a very positive contribution to the days event.

The Motor Club wishes to thank the generous support of the local businesses and sponsors and the NRMA who will again sponsor the trophies for the various Vehicle Categories Awards prizes.

Mr Hoare said, “The winners of the major raffle prizes will be announced at 1pm and the various Vehicle Category Awards will be announced at 2pm.”

“The Club would also like to thank the MC for the event, Mr Terry Munright, who has supported the club in this role for many years,” he said.

Motorfest 2016 is a Community Aid Event Day and this year is supporting, Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club, Local NSW Rural Fire Services at Tea Gardens and Pindimar and the Local Clinic Bus.
