The volunteer run toy library which is entering its fifth year, aims to save families money and storage, and to give them a chance to rotate toys frequently.

“Our members are loving it, particularly the grandparents, it’s so helpful for them when their grandchildren come to stay,” toy library committee president, Lissa Macilquham said.

Mrs Macilquham said the toy library, which operates from the Tea Gardens Uniting Church Hall had a particularly busy Christmas period.

“We had a lot of people from out of town borrowing,” she said.

There are about 40 members but Mrs Macilquham is always encouraging people to join and make the most of the great service.

“We’ve got a great supply of toys here for the children which we are constantly updating,” she said.

The toys are suited to children 0 to 5 years of age.

The toy library is open every Thursday during the school term from 9.30am to 12.30pm at the Tea Gardens Uniting Church Hall.

Prospective members are welcome to turn up on the day.

Borrowing the toys is free but there is an annual registration fee of $50.
