“Last week the Centre welcomed Tracey Isles and her colleagues from the Salvation Army in Raymond Terrace, to hand over the wonderful collection of Christmas gifts donated by members of the Centre and the community,” Janette Coppock told News Of The Area.
“There was a great response, with gifts for all ages, Mums and Dads, toiletries, as well as children’s books and toys.”
Members of the Centre’s Art group have also been busy preparing for a major milestone, their 25th Art Exhibition.
“The art room at the Craft Centre will be transformed into a Gallery, where all works on display will be for sale,” Janette said.
“The artists’ work in many different mediums, oils, water colour, acrylic, pencil and charcoal.”
The Art group began 25 years ago, originally using the Hawks Nest hall, until they eventually outgrew the venue and moved to their purpose built facility on Myall Street in Tea Gardens.
“What began as a small group of artists, keen to develop their skills and share their knowledge a quarter of a century ago is still thriving, with their art exhibition growing bigger and better every year,” Janette said.
“For many years the whole Centre has joined in creating a wonderful showcase of their work with the three large work rooms full of beautiful arts and craft items for sale, everything from ceramics, leather work, hand spun and knitted items, and many quilts and hand sewn items.”
The Art and Craft Show is being held over three days from Friday January 11 through to Sunday 13 January.
