Maggie Buchanan will deliver her talk, “A preview into Japanese Home, Heart and Mind,” which is centred around her experience visiting the country in 1984.

“It was such an eye-opening trip,” Maggie told Myall Coast News.

Maggie was working in the tourism industry in Sydney when she decided to learn Japanese to help advance her career.

She then had the opportunity to travel to Japan for three months where she lived with a host family in Tokyo.

Her presentation will look at the enriching experiences she shared with the Nishimura family who hosted her, as well as her adventures further afield in the country.

Robyn Green will also be speaking on her very different trip to Japan in 2008.

Robyn did a guided tour of the country with her husband Kevin.

Together the two women will deliver two very different perspectives on this fascinating country.

The following Friday professor Howard Bridgman, an Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle will come to speak for Myall U3A about climate change and cities.
