NAMBUCCA RSL Club will be holding ‘Let’s Reconnect – Nambucca’, a community mindfulness and mental health awareness day on Saturday 16 October 2021.

October is National Mental Health Awareness Month, and this event is one way to show support and also reconnect with the community.

Kylie Cork, Marketing and Communications at the RSL, shared that the day is “a reconnecting event for the local community”.

“Kids have free hire of kayaks and paddle boards, there’s a sausage sizzle, we have an exercise guru coming in for a workshop (10am), and also a belly dancer (2pm).”

“There will be people from RUOK Nambucca Valley and other health professionals there on the day with information available.

“Generally, it’s a fun day for all the community to come, talk to each other, hang out, relax and just reconnect with each other,” Ms Cork said.

“The event has come as a response to the COVID lockdowns, and social isolation.”

With the easing of restrictions Nambucca RSL is now also holding their Colour Walk for Breast Cancer on 31 October.

Ms Cork told News Of The Area, “The funds will go to the same breast cancer foundation as all our other Pink for June events did.

“The Colour Walk was part of it, it is just that it has been postponed due to COVID.

“So that is the breast care nurse with the McGrath Foundation, based at Macksville Hospital.

“We’ve raised $10,000 plus we bought a SOZO machine with our ClubGrants Program.”

The Colour Walk will be held on Sunday 31 October, starting at the Nambucca RSL Carpark starting at 7am.
