COFFS Harbour has again been selected to host a round of the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps National Series.

If Covid restrictions allow, the second event of the series will be held in Coffs Harbour on the weekend of September 25 and 26.

Approximately 80 young surfers are expected to enter the Coffs Harbour round of the series which will see some of the nation’s future champions competing for top honours.

Regarded as one of the major stepping stones in the development of young Australian surfers, the series caters for surfers from under 8 to under 14.

The 2021 series will see ten rounds held at various breaks in every state of the country before culminating in the National Final on the weekend before Christmas.

The winners of the Under 14 boys’ and girls’ divisions will receive an invite to attend an all-expenses-paid, three-day Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps National Final Surf Camp.

“The Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps series is a crucial part of Surfing Australia’s event schedule and a great way for aspiring junior surfers to compete against the rest of the country’s best talent,” Surfing Australia CEO Chris Mater said.

Each division of the 2021 Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps has been added to the 2021 Surfing Australia National Junior Rankings with each event rated at 5500pts for first place with points descending respectively.

A result at this event will contribute to a competitor’s overall National Junior Ranking.
