The event caters to families and offers something for everyone.

In 2020 the Australia Day celebrations at the Bay will also be raising money to support those impacted by the nightmare bushfire season.

There will be free Australian flags and chips, pony rides and jumping castles for children.

The kids will also love the magic displays and workshops along with alpaca and sheep shearing demonstrations, baby animals and reptile shows and education sessions.

For the young at heart there is the Vintage and Classic cars on display and the RAAF Flypast.

At 12 noon the salute to the flag will be conducted followed by citizenship ceremonies and some of Port Stephens residents being recognised for their contribution to the community.

There will also be markets and educational displays from the Rural Fire Service, NSW Fire Brigade, and the Port Stephens Community Arts Centres Spinners and Weavers.

The headline act for the Bay event will be the band Misbehave scheduled to play after the flag raising and from 2.15pm.

Also performing on the main stage from 9.30am will be the Hunter School of Performing Arts Band and local dancers.

The event kicks off with a parade from Layman Street Nelson Bay to Fly Point at 9am and will conclude at 3pm.

Mike Ryan, a member of the Australia Day Committee, told News Of The Area, “We are looking forward to a great family friendly day which celebrates our national spirit.

“At times like these it is important for us to come together as a community, to show our support to all Australian’s.

After all that’s what being Australian, what mateship is all about,” he said.

In Raymond Terrace Australia Day celebrations will kick off at 8am with the free Great Aussie Breakfast and there will be activities until 2.30pm.

Rotary Club of Raymond Terrace will help host a family fun day at Riverside Park. A free barbecue breakfast supported again this year by Raymond Terrace Bowling Club and cooked by the Rotary and Lions Clubs of Raymond Terrace.

Raymond Terrace activities include markets, jumping castles and face painting an SES display and pony rides along with an RAAF Flypast.

The formalities at the Raymond Terrace event will be conducted at Riverside Park from 9am.

In Lemon Tree Passage the Australia Day celebrations and fun will be from 8am to 1pm at Henderson Park.
