Celebrating the landmark of sixty years of marriage this month are Probus Club of Port Stephens members Leon and Cathy Lindsay.

The 60th wedding anniversary is otherwise known as the diamond anniversary.

The Diamond Anniversary symbolises unconquerable and enduring, which is symbolic of a couple celebrating 60 years together.

It is said that the fire in the diamond symbolizes the constant flame of love.

It is such an unusual achievement that couple reaching this landmark are able to apply for a letter from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Ann Gibson of the Probus Club Of Port Stephens told News Of The Area, “The Probus Club of Port Stephens has had a very happy start to the year with Leon and Cathy Lindsay celebrating 60 years of wedded bliss on the day of the meeting.

“This very popular couple were presented with a beautiful arrangement of flowers by President David Wilson to mark the occasion,” she said.

Leon has been a very active member for over 30 years taking on many roles within the Probus Club including President.

He was awarded the Port Stephens Medal at the Port Stephens Council Australia Day celebrations in 2018 for his contribution to the community and in particular, the Probus Club of Port Stephens.

Leon and Cathy also celebrated this milestone with a family dinner and a lunch with old friends.
