New Community Library to be Hosted by Karuah Land Council

Literacy skills are widely considered to be important for children to gain in their formative years, and a new initiative in the Karuah community, which is also spreading into Medowie, aims to nurture the development and love of reading.

Jim Batt, Medowie resident, is behind the initiative to establish a community library at the site of the Karuah Land Council.

The books and other resources will be available for all residents to use, and it is hoped that the new community library will be used regularly by community members.

Mr Batt told Medowie News Of The Area, “Reading is really important for young children and not all children have the same opportunities to have access to reading material that is interesting and relevant to them.”

“I am calling for donations to be made of books, board games, and durable toys so that the community library can open before Christmas.”
