Opinion is fiercely separated for and against for the new estate, with strong arguments for either side being shared online.

Deputy Mayor Chris Doohan is a passionate advocate for the estate, telling News Of The Area, “This would have to be one of the most exciting, affordable and sustainable developments I have seen in a long time, because the level of planning and foresight by the developer has certainly put this in the new generation of urban planning with terrific results for all of the community.”

“Jobs, Jobs, Jobs… I envisage over 100 Tradies for approximately 5 years, plus other support and Management staff, then there are the permanent jobs into the future, offering a sensational opportunity for Medowie.”

The estate is due to commence marketing shortly, with construction in early 2019.

There is set to be a $130m value of the Estate and the Dwellings on completion.

238 dwellings will be built, consisting of 2 bed single garage dwellings, 3 bed double garage dwellings.

The site will also house Multi-Million-dollar Clubhouse facilities, as well as a host of other facilities, as can be seen on the map attached.

This new estate will be developed, owned and operated by local group based in the Hunter.

A site Manager, Activity co Ordinator and gardeners will keep the Estate immaculately maintained daily to offer a resort style environment.

It is envisaged there will be massive contributions to local business to service the residents and the trades during the construction phase.

238 dwellings at 1.5 person per dwelling is 350 people, within a 300m walk to the shops – which should mean a big boost for local shop keepers.

Chris Doohan said, “This will provide an economic boost to Medowie, the likes that have never been seen before.”

“It will provide much needed funding to council to improve the infrastructure in our area so that the impact of more residents can be catered for, as well as improvements for our current residents.”

I have been working hard to achieve this anyway, but an enhancement like this just makes it even better,” he said.
