CHRISTMAS arrived early for Medowie Rural Fire Brigade, when they received the keys to a brand new fire truck.

The 3,500 litre ‘Category 1’ tanker, valued at approximately $300,000, will better equip the brigade members to respond to a range of emergencies, including, but not limited to, bush and grass fires, structure fires, and motor vehicle accidents.

Medowie RFB Senior Deputy Captain, Peter Smith, said, “The truck is a welcome addition to the brigade replacing our old fire truck, which has protected our brigade and community well for the past 17 years.

“The most significant improvements are the enhanced safety measures on the appliance which will better protect our volunteer firefighters,” said Mr Smith.

The new tanker is part of the State Government’s investment into the NSW Rural Fire Service.
