New rules for Holiday housing and rentals in Great Lakes

Great Lakes Council is proposing new rules to regulate rentals of holiday houses in the Great Lakes.

Under the proposal, houses with five bedrooms or more being used for holiday accommodation will need Council approval.

The proposal has come about to ensure compliance with NSW legislation regarding holiday house rentals and to prevent problems with their operation in residential areas.

Mayor Cr Jan McWilliams said, “The proposal will help regulate holiday houses and associated issues such as waste disposal, the number of visitors and car parking.  The new rules will also provide guidelines for pet-friendly accommodation.”

“Council is hoping that by improving the holiday home guidelines, the Great Lakes will continue to be a place enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike.”
