“The old jetty structure was completely replaced with a new structure, and we’ve installed a brand new, longer pontoon to cater for increasing boat traffic” said Council’s Manager Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades, Daniel Aldridge.

Some minor landscaping work is still required on site, which will be completed after the Easter holidays.

The contractors are now installing a new pontoon off the end of Coomba jetty as well as relocating the old Tuncurry pontoon to the Pacific Palms jetty (near the Recreation Club).

“Over the last year, work has been completed at Forster Marina, Smiths Lake and Coomba boat ramps, and the car park at Pacific Palms boat ramp” said Council’s Natural Assets Officer, Drew Morris.

“Further work will start soon to upgrade the carpark at Coomba boat ramp as well as temporary mooring facilities in Tea Gardens” said Drew.

“We are also working on concept designs to improve the carpark around the Tuncurry boat ramp, with work expected to start later this calendar year” added Drew.

The Boating Now program, administered by Roads and Maritime Services, aims to further enhance the boating experience by improving the capacity and amenity of boating infrastructure on NSW waterways.

  1. What about North Arm Cove Jetty? just promises are the opium of the people!. North Arm Cove is a very neglected area. We pay the highest council rates in the area with no town water and sewerage service and no drainage and proper roads or street lighting. I have lived in this beautiful area for 14 years now and I have hardly noticed any improvement in infrastructure. Our council rates are being used to support other areas and North Arm Cove is left for dead. There is no one to blame but ourselves the people who live or own property in this village. We should organise to put up our own councillor on council and make a difference to the shire and not just us neglected lot. How many of you have seen the Mayor or any councillor pay a visit to North Arm Cove?. I think we should push to be part of Port Stevens council so we get better attention. It is time to get things moving. I am happy to connect with people who want to make a difference to North Arm cove. Why don’t we all write to the MLC Scot MacDonald to see what Mr MacDonald will do and not just promises. You can contact me via email on andrew@powertronic.com.au or my mobile: 0407044600.
