Beginning on 14 May, detours and changed traffic conditions can be seen on Williamtown Drive.

This includes reducing the speed limit on Nelson Bay Road near the airport traffic lights from 80km/h to 60.

Traffic controls will be in place to ensure visitors in rental cars can easily access the drop off and pick up zone.

A spokesperson for Newcastle Airport told News Of The Area, “To be on the safe side, travellers are urged to factor in additional travel time to the airport.”

“Impact to traffic has been none to very minimal as the works are happening off the main road, Williamtown Drive,” they said.

The roadwork is scheduled to be completed and traffic set to return to normal by the end of June.
