“We are on constant patrol of the play areas, boat ramps, parks and beaches,” he said.

“These are trying times and we all must play our role in keeping this virus at bay,” he added.

“We work in tandem with Port Stephens Council rangers to get better coverage of the area,” he said

Police follow up every report they receive from Crime Stoppers and ask residents to pass on exact details.

The Port Stephens Hunter Police District is committed to providing our community with the highest level of customer service at all times, however they are presently receiving a high volume of calls in relation to COVID-19.

When phoning Port Stephens police (local line), to ensure they are able to appropriately respond to calls for service, the telephone system’s Voice Response has been updated.

The new options are:

• General health related enquiries about COVID-19 – press 1

• Enquiries about breaches of restrictions with respect to COVID-19 – press 2

• To speak to an officer attached to Port Stephens Hunter Police District press 3 and your call will then be routed to the next available operator of your choice.
