The event offers young amateur surfers a chance to win large amounts of prize money in each division, with over 100 surfers taking part in the event, which showcased some of Australia’s best young surfers who battled it out for the $5000 in prize money as they surfed towards their dreams of a surfing career.

One Mile Beach pumped with a festival vibe with DJs performing live art and there were plenty of fun beach activities.

The Kaos Surf Surfarama is the fourth in a series of six events in the series which consists of a point score that will be kept at each event.

This puts surfers in the running to win another lot of prize money if they have the highest point score at the end of the series.

Tony Bainbridge of Kaos Surf is the local sponsor for this leg of the Surfarama series. He told News Of The Area, “We bought this event to the local area to give the junior divisions a representative aspect of contest surfing, giving them the experience of pitting themselves against like minded young surfers from outside the region.”

He believes that this allows them to build up their experience going into the future.

“We became involved so we could take the opportunity to create local for locals which is really important to us at Kaos surf,” he said.

Local Bay Board Rider, Jasmine Sampson took out the Under 16 girls’ title, with Mike Clayton-Brown coming second in the under 14 boys’ event.

The $1000 prize in the open men’s was taken out by Jamie Skillin.

Surfarama plans to come back to the Bay in 2018.
