The Probus Club of Port Stephens is back on deck for 2017.
The first meeting of the year was a very special one.

Longtime member Fred Burton, former gun snooker player and a past President, is turning 100 years old this month.
Fred’s fellow Probus friends helped him celebrate this great milestone with a huge birthday cake.
“Fred is still a regular attendee at meetings and was also presented with a “Bradman’s Knock” Certificate (100 not out) by President Ron Gibson,” Publicity Officer Ann Gibson told Bay News Of The Area.
Fred was accompanied by his daughter Jenny and they enjoyed the fellowship of members at the extended morning tea and then joined the group for lunch upstairs at Nelson Bay Bowling Club.
What a stayer!
“Fred proudly showed the congratulatory letters he received for his 100th Birthday from everyone including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth,” Ms Gibson said.
The Club is straight back into their activities with Mixed Bowls, Snooker, Walking, Australia Day Family Picnic, Movie Night and Barbecue, all happening over the next few weeks.
There is a wide age demographic in this mixed gender club and local residents are more than welcome to come along to the Probus Club to see what is on offer.
Meetings are the second Thursday of the month at Nelson Bay Bowling Club, 9.30am.
Enquires should be made to Pam on 4981 0273 or log into their website at www.probusclubofportstephens.org.
