Customer Jess Gordon said the convenience offered by the new site “is fantastic”.

“It is great to have a scheme like this locally rather than having to drive an hour to deposit your containers elsewhere,” she said.

Although the Club is an over-the-counter collection point where the containers are counted manually, the system is well-organised and the process moves swiftly.

“There is no limit on the number of containers that can be redeemed in one go,” staff told News Of The Area.

“Most drink containers up to three litres are eligible for the 10-cent refund and customers can help by separating their glass bottles, cans and plastics.”

Staff said containers don’t need to be in pristine condition, but they must be emptied, uncrushed and have the original label attached.

Currently, containers can be redeemed at the Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-3pm and Sundays from 2-4pm.

Following the hectic launch last week, staff are looking forward to further refining the process to continue to improve the service for the community.
