IT was rollup time at Lemon Tree Passage Bowling Club recently as the Lady Bowlers hosted a charity day.

They do this twice yearly to raise funds for our local Marine Rescue flotilla and the Tilligerry Rural Fire Service.

A spokesperson said that a $1000 cheque was always handed over to the local volunteers.

“If there is any shortfall we top it up from our own funds,” she said.

“We get terrific support from the three local butchers who donate the sausages for our barbecue lunch and other businesses kick in with prizes for our raffles and tombola as well,” she added.

The Bowling Club (now renamed Club Lemon Tree) has always put a lot back into Tilligerry.

President Kevin Colman OAM told News Of The Area, “This year we have ploughed some $40,000 back into local community groups.”

“The Junior Soccer; the Rugby League Club; the Cricket Club; our Art group; the Literature Award and the Lions Club are just a few that come to mind,” he said.

“Residents will also notice that thanks to a bequest by the late Roy Lacey, our synthetic green has just been resurfaced and after compacting and marking, it will be operational towards the end of the month.”
