SOME of Medowie’s Scouts participated in a special day this week, as a mark of respect to a former fellow Scout, by wearing their scout scarf to school.
World Scout Scarf Day is a day that past and present members of the Scouting Association wear their scarves to school or work to represent the first ever Scout camp held by Lord Baden Powell at Brownsea Island 110 years ago.
Members of the 1st Medowie Scout group who attend Wirreanda Public School accessorised their school uniform for one special day, and wore their Scout scarves to school to commemorate the day, and to also raise the profile of Scouts in the area.
Dennis Conroy, the District Scout Leader for Port Stephens, told News Of The Area, “I was impressed with how many current members took part in the Port Stephens area.”
“It’s great to see our young members wanting to celebrate Scouts, and encourage their school friends to give it a go.”
If you’d like to give Scouts a try, the 1st Medowie Scout Group hold their meetings at the Medowie community hall.
Scouts meet on a Tuesday night at 6:30 -8:30, Joeys on a Wednesday night 6-7pm, and Cubs on Wednesday 6-7:30pm.
Interested people are welcome to come along to the hall, introduce themselves and see what Scouts has to offer.
