THE annual Rotary Easter Book Sale has, since its inception, relied on donations of books from the local community.

Six years ago the Tea Gardens Library approached the Rotary Club to lend their experience in books sales, to dispose of their surplus library books.

Following the huge success of the Easter Book Sale, it was decided to incorporate an additional sale during the Christmas holidays. This too was an immediate success.

In exchange for supplying the books, the Club donated a percentage of the proceeds of the sale to the Library, which, over the years has amounted to a total of $6,000.00.

These funds have been utilised to improve and extend their facilities and amenities at the Library.

Other Community organisations to receive support over the years from the Rotary Club are The Community Technology Centre (CTC), The Clinic Bus, HN/TG Respite Centre, HN/TG Soccer Club, HN/TG Toy Library, Riding for the Disabled, TG/HN Red Cross, Tea Gardens Mens Shed and Tea Gardens U3A.

The Meals on Wheels (MOW) Community support organisation is staffed by a dedicated group of volunteers supplying meals to those unable to cook for themselves or simply require a break from cooking.

Preparing the meals is almost a full-time job and requires modern kitchen facilities.

The constant task of keeping this equipment up-to-date is one that requires energetic fundraising.

Rotary is very pleased to have been able to donate nearly $6,000.00 to MOW to purchase new cooking and refrigeration equipment.
