Salamander Bay car crash kills two men

Two men have died after a single car crash west of Nelson Bay this morning.

Just before 1am (Friday 13 April 2018), emergency services were called to a single car crash at the intersection of George and Soldiers Point roads at Salamander Bay.

A Mazda 3 hatchback had left the road and hit a tree.

One of the men 34-years-old while the age of the other man is not known at this time.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, sustained serious injuries. He remains in a serious condition at John Hunter Hospital.

A 30-year-old travelling in the back of the car sustained minor injuries. He is in a stable condition at John Hunter Hospital.

While inquiries into the events leading up to the crash are continuing, alcohol is considered a factor
