“This is a planned interim program to keep sand on the beach until the transfer system is up and running,” Council’s Parks Natural Assets Officer, Drew Morris said.

“Although the erosion at Jimmys Beach wasn’t major, there was some significant removal of sand.”

“It’s timely that this work had been scheduled prior to last week’s erosion event, so we will be able to provide a good sand buffer to the beach before the summer months,” Drew said.

“More of the stockpile from Winda Woppa is being used, which is a good thing,” local Gordon Grainger said.

However there’s still no word on when the new transfer system will be built.”

MidCoast Council says the designs are still on the drawing board.
