The Bulahdelah Officer began his distinguished career at Wallsend and has since served in many rural and remote locations including Pilliga, Pallamallawa, Bungendore, Tocumwal and Henty before transferring to Bulahdelah in 2014.

“The best thing about being a country cop is knowing the people,” Sn Constable Mcleod said.

“Because of the small-town spirit, you get know everyone, so it is more personal.”

Throughout his 30-year career, Sn Constable Mcleod’s commitment to the communities he has served has been recognised with many distinguished awards.

These include the Commissioner’s Commendation for brave conduct and both a State Government and Royal Humane Society Award, also presented for bravery.

In addition, Sn Constable Mcleod received a National Service Medal and the NSW Police Service Medal for 15-years of continuous and diligent service.

After more than three decades, the dedicated officer said he has “no plans to give it up just yet”.

“It has been a pleasure to serve the communities for 30-years,” he said.

“I didn’t think I would be doing it for this long, but I’m still enjoying it, so I plan to keep on working.”

Senior Constable Mcleod was amongst the group of Manning Great Lakes officers who were honoured at the command’s annual awards ceremony recently held at Club Taree.

The awards and medals were presented by Manning Great Lakes Commander Peter Thurtell, who commended the officers for their commitment to the force.

“It’s an opportunity for NSW Police to formally and officially say thank you to their police officers in front of their family and friends,” Commander Thurtell said.

“We thank them for their professionalism, dedication and service.”

The 2017 Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command Awards recognised the work of more than 40 officers and their service to the community.
