Six men charged with murder following Fairfield East death

Six men arrested over the death of a man who was assaulted and stabbed on a public street in Sydney’s south-west in December last year have now been charged with murder.

Emergency services were called to Belmore Street, Fairfield East, following reports of a man being assaulted and stabbed at the location about 4.10pm on Sunday 6 December 2015.

Tu Luong, 35, suffered numerous injuries and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital but died a short time later.

The Homicide Squad established Strike Force Guntawong and has been investigating the incident with the assistance of Fairfield Local Area Command.

Yesterday (Wednesday 15 June 2016), Homicide Squad detectives were assisted by the Tactical Operation Unit, South West Metropolitan detectives and Region Enforcement Squad officers to execute five search warrants at Casula, Liverpool, Fairfield East and Smithfield. Five men were arrested.

A .22 bolt action rifle was seized at the Liverpool address and an air rifle and drugs suspected of being heroin were seized from a Fairfield East address.

A 35-year-old Casula man and a 32-year-old Liverpool man were arrested and charged with murder. They appeared at Liverpool Local Court yesterday and remain in custody to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday 17 August 2016.

Two 38-year-old men from Fairfield East were each charged with murder, with one of the men additionally charged with possess firearm. They appeared at Fairfield Local Court yesterday and remain in custody to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday 22 June 2016.

A 37-year-old Smithfield man was charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 16 June 2016).

A 36-year-old man was arrested at Phillip, in the Australian Capital Territory, by ACT Police by virtue of a NSW arrest warrant for murder. He was extradited to NSW, charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court today (Thursday 16 June 2016).
