The opening is just in time for the Council’s inaugural ‘Illuminate Boomerang Park’ festival this weekend with lights shining brightly on the new skatepark to enable the public to safely use the new facility this Saturday night.

At a cost of $200,000, the new skatepark is part of the revitalisation of Boomerang Park which also includes the already completed new children’s play area, a new fitness course, the relocation of the Raymond Terrace Men’s Shed and the soon to be complete croquet and pétanque courts.

The skatepark has been designed to cater for all skill levels but to also entice those with advanced skating skills to utilise the new equipment.

Port Stephens Councillor Giacomo Arnott told News of the Area, “Young people in Raymond Terrace have been calling out for a decent skatepark for years and I’m pleased that we have finally delivered for them.”

“People from all across the region and the state are already coming to this park to ride it and enjoy it, and as it gets more popular, the amount of visitors will grow.”

“I’m looking forward to working with the users of the skate park to improve it and keep it in tip top shape going into the future,” he said.

The ‘Illuminate Boomerang Park’ festival will be held on Saturday 18 November and include assorted free activities, a lantern parade, glow room and will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
