Stuarts Point community turns out for Garage Sale Trail

Many practical and decorative craft items were on display.

THE inaugural Stuarts Point Garage Sale Trail kicked off under sunny skies on Saturday 20 January with about a dozen households opening their yards and garage doors to the public.

Super bargains were on offer, and generous deals were snapped up early, with further discounts as the day progressed.

At 10am, two hours after most of the trading commenced, Gail from Bohemia Court, Stuarts Point, told NOTA, “We have had a surprisingly busy morning, we could have sold lots of my hubbies cap collection, but they are his precious display, definitely not for sale.”

Goods of all varieties were up for grabs, everything from good quality clothing, books, craft, garden and fishing paraphernalia to a small motorboat complete with fold-up trailer and roof racks.

Organiser Briana Earle was pleased with all the effort both the vendors and shoppers put into the event, and from her own garage sale site said, “It’s fun and beneficial for all involved, most registered households will be open again tomorrow morning as well as next weekend, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28.”

Briana and the participating sellers hope to repeat the community-based event within the coming months and maybe seasonally, making it ongoing and predictable as an effective way to disperse unwanted goods and make a little cash.
