Wednesday Nominated Triples was oversubscribed today with 3 games of Fours supplementing 4 games of Triples.

Hopefully, next week we can christen the grass green after its long hibernation.

A mix-up in the scoring meant that there were no clear winners today but suffice it to say everyone had a great game and the game of bowls came out on top.

A nice field of 16 bowlers played today in the Fabulous Friday Open Jackpot Pairs.

The event welcomed two lady bowlers and two visitors.

The winners were decided using the formula 4 points for a win plus ends won.

Col Saillard and Tom Parkinson managed to influence the scorer to win.

They were followed by Tim Grant and Henk Faber.

The jackpot was not won and will stand at $220.00 next week.

Worth winning!

The final round of the Newcastle District Pennant competition was played today with the Grade 5 players breathing a sigh of relief that their stressing season was over.

The Mighty Dolphins Grade 5 side played host to Soldiers Point today but had a disappointing loss.

There was one close game where the Col Amos team went down by 4 shots, but in the other games our teams were out-bowled.

Grade 5 equipped themselves well during the season but was left under-strength in too many battles.

The mighty Dolphins Grade 3 side won again today playing away at Boolaroo.

It was not all plain sailing, with one team going down, but the Master Board score favoured Tea Gardens in the end 67-55.

The Steve Pell Four went down by 5 shots, 16-21.

Offsetting that, the Sean Mearrick team posted a 5 shot victory 23-18, and the Richard Lee combination had a great win 28-16, to clinch the match.

Grade 3 finished the season on top of their section qualifying for the Sectional playoffs next week.

It was a red-letter day for the Tea Gardens Country Club Bowling Club when the Mighty Dolphins Grade 6 side won a convincing last match against Tomago.

It was a clean sweep for the “sixes’ winning all their games in style.

Danny Johnson’s squad won 22-13.

The Doug Naylor Four won 33-16 and the Ron Webster team hammered the opposition winning 39-8.

The Master Board score favoured Tea Gardens 94-37.

I cannot recall Tea Gardens having two Sectional winners in a season in my time at the Club, but it was achieved today with Grade 6 also qualifying by finishing on top in their Section.

There are 7 Sections in Grade 6, so depending on the draw they might be competing at Wallsend next Saturday.

Club members wish the Mighty Dolphins Grade 3 and Grade 6 sides every success next weekend.

Go the Dolphins!

14 May

There was no Sunday Mixed Bowls today, being Mother’s Day, but it will be back next Sunday bigger than ever.

Entries for the Major Singles Championship close this week on Friday 19 May.

The draw will be posted the same day.

Play will commence on 27 May.
