15 November: The RSL LifeCare Versatility was played today with a full field of 56 players participating.

The idea to hold this event on a Wednesday really paid off. A real coup for Bowls co-ordinator, Col Amos and his team from the Bowls Committee!

Our very valued sponsor, RSL LifeCare, was represented by the Manager of The Grange Lifestyle Resort, Julie Woolard, who presented the winning teams with their prizes.

Five teams were lucky to receive a prizewinning random draw.

Third prize went to a very consistent team of; Noel Jackson, Bruce Everitt, Greg Smith and John Ashton.

Second place and runners up were; John Carey, Ken Mckeon, Daryl Martin and Pip Sullivan.

The overall winners were; Alan Greenhalgh, Col Amos, Peter Gurney and Dave Perry.

They lost their Fours game by two shots and scraped home in one of their Pairs game by one shot, however they had enough in reserve to see them over the line.

Well done!

A Tea Gardens welcome was extended to 9 players from Norah Head.

They enjoyed a good night in the motel and enjoying a game of Bowls in good company.

The organisers thanked Keith Smith and Ian Baker for their help in doing the score board.

This was a very professional presentation showing progressive results from the score cards.

The RSL LifeCare Versatility Day has cemented itself onto our Bowling Calendar for next year where it is bound to be another outstanding success.

17 November: Five Dollar Friday is proving to be successful with 20 players participating in the Open Pairs competition.

The competition was close in most games with single digit wins for 4 teams.

The team of Barry Goode and John Slater, with a +12 win, had the “bragging rights” for the week.

There were no Sunday Mixed Bowls this week due to the greens being occupied by the Country Club Invitation 11-Up competition.

In other news: Invitations for the Club Fours Championship will be posted shortly.

It is planned to start first game on 13th January so start getting your teams together.

A full 2018 Calendar of Events will be available in the next few weeks.

It is great to see that the Club’s annual Dolphin Day, scheduled for 25 November and the Presentation Night for 4 December are being well supported
