NEWCASTLE District Women’s Bowling Association Pennant Season commenced on Tuesday 9 August and concluded on Thursday 13 September.

TGWBC entered a Grade 3 and a Grade 4 side this year. Unfortunately the Grade 4 side didn’t have a good season, the original bowlers in one team were Lyn Nightingale, Judi Polak, Ingrid Luck and Judy McGavock and the other team consisted of Sheril Johnson, Jean Glover, Dot Dallas and Bette Saillard.

Due to unforeseen circumstances a number of the ladies had to drop out of their side, many thanks to Jan Coomer, Maureen Campbell, Dale Cameron, Irene Roberts and Bev Dunn for filling the gaps when needed.

Our Grade 4 side were unsuccessful in winning their Section this year.

The Grade 3 side did very well and actually won their Section hence will compete against New Lambton in the Post Sectional Finals on Tuesday 27 September at Raymond Terrace Bowling Club.

The Grade 3 team Sheila Rattray, Lorraine Murphy, Sandra Leisemann and Robyn Beaumont were undefeated in the 8 games they bowled, the other half of this side were Lynda Richards, Dale Winter, Deyonne Page and Karen McPhie.

Robyn Webster played in the first 2 games but had to step down.

Social bowls was very much disrupted due to Pennants and the wet weather with basically just ‘roll ups’ when weather permitted thankfully on Thursday 15 September things were back to normal with 18 bowlers on the Green.

Format for play a game of Fours, Triples and Pairs results as follows Sheril Johnson, Irene Roberts, Jean Glover and Dot Dallas 24 v Lyn Nightingale, Judi Polak, Bev Dunn and Ingrid Luck 6.Chrissy Buddle, Carol Hayden and Karen McPhie defeated Deb Gardner, Bette Saillard and Dale Cameron 10 v 9 and a win to Lynda Richards and Dale Winter 17 v Lorraine Murphy and Deyonne Page 11.

Coming events: Tuesday 27 September, Pennant Post Sectional Final Grade 3 at Raymond Terrace.

Wednesday 28 September Queen of the Mountain Classic Triples Bulahdelah Women’s Bowling Club.
