Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club raise huge funds on their Oncology Day

Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club held their Annual Mixed Oncology Day on Friday 10th October 2014 where the Club presented a cheque for an amazing amount of $6,000.Vicki Rankin, Secretary Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club, Margaret Dougherty, Elaine Weaver and Sandra Leisemann, President Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club.

The donation was presented to Margaret Dougherty, Secretary of the Mater Calvary Newcastle Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Auxiliary member, Elaine Weaver.

“This far exceeded the wonderful efforts of previous years,” said Lily Smith from the Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club.

“This day was only possible due to the wonderful generosity from local businesses and clubs within the Community,” Lily said.

Many of the supporters donated gift vouchers and products which were used for a massive tombola and raffles.

The President of the Women’s Bowling Club, Sandra Leisemann said, “To our Committee and Members of both Bowling Clubs who contributed cash donations and gifts during the past year and on the day, and to all those who worked so hard prior to the big day, a heartfelt thank you. There are too many to thank individually.”

It was a well-supported day by everyone, including the bingo group, with many happy players winning raffle prizes.

Everyone enjoyed their game of bowls in such beautiful weather followed by a scrumptious lunch prepared by Christine Fossey and her team.

“We thank the Board of Directors of the Tea Gardens Country Club, General Manager Warren Gooley and all the staff for their support of this special day.”

At the conclusion of the day, our very own ‘auctioneer extraordinaire’, Max Stephens entertained everyone with a quick-fire auction
of various donated items to add more to the coffers.

This event would not be so successful without the support and participation of so many within our small Community and the Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club hope to continue this day for many years to come.
